Calum “Caz” Paul

Calum “Caz” Paul is one of the British Horror Studio’s most versatile and dedicated collaborators, moving between performance, assistant direction, art direction, prop-making, practical effects, and stage combat with extraordinary commitment. A member of Combat International and an experienced stage fighter, Paul brings discipline, physicality, and a deep love of history, fantasy, and drama to everything he does. His early performance work with Lawrie Brewster began in The Slave and the Sorcerer, where his initial roles as one of the King’s Guard grew steadily as his commitment and screen presence became increasingly apparent.

That growth continued in The Reign of Queen Ginnarra, where Paul developed into one of the film’s most sinister and imposing presences as the Queen’s Champion, confidant, and chief torturer to Queen Ginnarra, played by Megan Tremethick. His command of physical performance and fight technique brought authority to the role, particularly in a powerful scene opposite Stephen Kerr, and helped deepen the film’s atmosphere of dark courtly violence, loyalty, and betrayal. His combination of practical skill, discipline, and menace has made him a valuable performer in roles requiring more than dialogue alone.

Beyond acting, Paul has become a key creative figure within the wider British Horror Studio and The B-Team. He served as 1st AD for Megan Tremethick on Spoiling You, has contributed practical effects and production craft to B-Team work, and continues to support the studio across performance and filmmaking. He also appears in The Slave and the General, plays a principal huntsman role in a Megan Tremethick-directed segment of For We Are Many 2, and is set to direct his own B-Team production. With his distinctive look, physical intensity, historical imagination, and expanding filmmaking voice, Calum “Caz” Paul represents the studio’s ideal of the artist-warrior: a performer and maker who can build the world, fight within it, and command the screen when called upon.
