Dorian Todd

Dorian Todd

Director • Writer • Actor • Editor • Composer
Dorian Todd is one of the British Horror Studio’s most promising young filmmaker-performers, a rising creative voice whose work is shaped by performance, atmosphere, and a deeply personal sense of character. As an actor, writer, director, editor, composer, and visual effects artist, Todd represents the kind of multi-disciplinary artist The B-Team was created to develop: someone able to move between acting, authorship, image-making, sound, and post-production with a clear and distinctive creative instinct.

Todd’s development as a filmmaker grew directly from his work as a performer. In Black Chariot, he was entrusted with significant creative freedom during one of his most intimate and emotionally demanding scenes, shaping both the performance and aspects of its direction. That trust proved formative. His ability to understand performance from the inside, while also thinking structurally as a filmmaker, helped establish him as a serious creative collaborator within the studio.

He took a major step forward with Mr Whispers, The B-Team horror feature he co-directed with Seumas MacNeil and Oliver Revie, and co-wrote with MacNeil. The film, set around a derelict cinema and a town haunted by buried trauma, allowed Todd to explore the immersive possibilities of found footage, naturalistic performance, and emotionally grounded horror. In interview, he described the film as tense, suffocating, immersive, and full of heart, while also stressing his belief that strong characters and performances are just as important to horror as the horror itself.

The promise shown in Mr Whispers led the British Horror Studio and The B-Team to entrust Todd with Meow!, his feature directorial debut. Designed around his own particular style and aesthetic, Meow! is a stylised 1990s pursuit-horror about teenagers on the run from an elusive cat-like creature. As a filmmaker who edits, composes, and produces his own visual effects, Todd brings a hands-on, alternative theatrical sensibility to the project: young in perspective, but touched by an old theatrical soul.

Whether writing, directing, performing, editing, composing, or experimenting with visual effects, Dorian Todd stands as one of The B-Team’s clearest examples of what the British Horror Studio hopes to cultivate: emerging filmmakers with passion, discipline, individuality, and the courage to make work that is emotionally sincere, visually distinct, and proudly strange.
“A young filmmaker-performer with an old theatrical soul and a fiercely individual horror imagination.”
