Stephen Kerr

Actor • Physical Performer • Acrobat
Stephen Kerr is one of the British Horror Studio’s most physically invested and emotionally intense performers, a roguish screen presence whose work combines pathos, athleticism, and raw feeling. Drawing deeply from himself in performance, Kerr brings a method-like emotional commitment to his roles, creating characters who feel wounded, volatile, loyal, and alive. His background in circus, acrobatics, and physical performance gives him a rare command of movement, danger, and screen energy.

In Megan Tremethick’s award-winning directorial debut Spoiling You, Kerr plays Drew, the film’s troubled lead, delivering a profound and emotionally open performance that has become one of his most acclaimed collaborations with the studio. Tremethick has described him as possessing something of Toshiro Mifune in his physical presence: intense, instinctive, forceful, and capable of great vulnerability beneath the surface.

Kerr is also beloved by British Horror Studio audiences as Ryhn Grey in The Slave and the Sorcerer, a rogue, thief, and reluctant hero whose charm and rough nobility made him one of the film’s most popular figures. He continues the role in the forthcoming sequel The Slave and the General, and has significant parts in the upcoming For We Are Many 2. His long collaboration with Lawrie Brewster stretches back over fifteen years, including his work as Calder in The Devil’s Machine, originally known as Automata, and his memorable demon performance in the original For We Are Many.

In The Reign of Queen Ginnarra, Kerr appears as Kronus, delivering one of the film’s most striking moments in a scene where his character receives a sentence of capital punishment from Queen Ginnarra. The scene gained attention across social media, showcasing Kerr’s ability to command sympathy, tension, and physical presence even in a brief but powerful role. Whether playing a thief, a demon, a doomed man, or a wounded romantic lead, Stephen Kerr represents the muscular heart of the British Horror Studio repertory: emotional, athletic, courageous, and utterly committed.
“A roguish, physical, and emotionally fearless performer with the force of old heroic cinema.”
