Paul William Kelly
Producer • Cinematographer • B-Team Co-Lead
Paul William Kelly is one of the essential producer figures within the British Horror Studio, a mature and deeply committed creative leader whose path into film began with a bold personal reinvention. After a career in administration for a major oil firm, Kelly chose to transform his life by pursuing his first love: cinema. His connection with the studio began on the set of Amicus Productions’ In the Grip of Terror, where he arrived as a guest and supporter, but quickly revealed the discipline, passion, organisational instinct, and creative curiosity that would make him invaluable to Lawrie Brewster, Sarah Daly, Megan Tremethick, and the wider British Horror Studio.
Within the studio, Kelly has become a crucial operational and creative presence, working across administration, production, management, cinematography, and the long-term development of The B-Team. His experience outside the film industry gives him a practical steadiness that complements his enthusiasm for cinema, while his love of image-making and production has made him a natural collaborator on ambitious independent features. Public coverage has credited him as cinematographer on Chronicles of Depression, a restrained psychological horror centred on atmosphere, period detail, and performance, while The B-Team has been publicly described as co-led by Megan Tremethick and Paul William Kelly under the British Horror Studio banner.
Kelly’s partnership with Tremethick has become especially important to the future of The B-Team, the experimental wing of the British Horror Studio designed to discover, train, and cultivate new filmmakers through ambitious feature production. Together, they have helped shape an environment where younger artists can learn by doing, with Kelly bringing patience, encouragement, operational structure, and hands-on production experience to films such as Mr Whispers and Chronicles of Depression. His enthusiasm has made him a popular figure among the studio’s younger artists, who see in him proof that cinema can still be pursued with youthful energy, courage, and sincerity at any stage of life.
Now deeply immersed in the work of Hex Studios, Amicus Productions, and The B-Team, Kelly continues to work closely with Lawrie Brewster, Sarah Daly, and Megan Tremethick across the practical realities of building a studio: productions, equipment, schedules, infrastructure, administration, and creative development. In time, he intends to direct his own feature film, but his present role is already vital. Paul William Kelly represents one of the British Horror Studio’s core ideals: that a film studio is built not only by artists, but by people with loyalty, discipline, experience, generosity, and the courage to change their lives in pursuit of the screen.
